Slooh Education
Start your own astronomy club and work your way through the Slooh Observatory’s “quests” to earn “gravity points” toward badges. Learn lots of interesting things about how the Slooh telescopes work, celestial bodies, and space science. Slooh is launching a focused series of webinars to show teachers available resources, demonstrate how to use the telescopes, and more.
Slooh has telescope sites in the northern and southern hemispheres, so you can observe events no matter what your location. Schedule telescope use around what you want to view and the scheduler will help you pick the most ideal time slot and include additional resources. Slooh has fantastic live shows and lectures with astronomers and Slooh educators on space science topics.
The program is recommended for grade 4 to adult. You don’t need a background in astronomy to get started. Enthusiasts and those with a background in astronomy will also love what is available here. A Slooh membership is required, but the fee is low enough to achieve through a small fundraiser or a local grant from your community. The Slooh Astronomy Club for educators is the result of a 2018 National Science Foundation grant. The curriculum is tied to the Next Gen Science Standards.
